Climate, Air, & Energy

CFE's Climate and Energy Program is dedicated to maintaining and enhancing Connecticut’s leadership role in addressing climate change, tackling air pollution, and supporting sustainable communities and economies.

Through coalitions, informal partnerships, and our role on the Governor's Council on Climate Change, we work with stakeholders in the legislature, administration, regulatory agencies, business community, clean energy community, and others. We also provide research and expertise on cutting-edge issues regarding energy efficiency, clean energy finance, renewable energy deployment, and micro-grids.

Recent campaigns have included enacting the Connecticut Global Warming Solutions Act, enacting legislation to address methane leakage, and removing regulatory barriers to deployment of clean and renewable distributed generation in Connecticut.

Current priorities include:

  • Strengthening Connecticut's climate commitments by improving accountability in greenhouse gas reductions;

  • Expanding the state's Renewable Portfolio Standard to continue the shift away from dirty fossil fuels, and ensuring Millstone doesn't co-opt Connecticut's clean energy future;

  • Making electric vehicles more accessible to interested buyers; and

  • Guarding the funding that spurs innovation and generates clean and efficient energy across Connecticut.
