A new logo reflecting our growth and unity

We’re growing in great ways! With your support, over the past two years we have: opened a new western Sound office in Mamaroneck; led coalitions to save Plum Island, protect the Oswegatchie Hills, and promote electric vehicles; founded Stamford 2030, an innovative private-public partnership; and taken on governments to stop water pollution. We’re even moving to new headquarters to accommodate our growing staff.

More than ever, our campaigns to protect the waters, lands, air, and wildlife of our region are interconnected and multi-faceted, not siloed.

That growth and momentum are why it’s time for a change to our public face—a new logo!

Save the Sound merged into Connecticut Fund for the Environment in 2004, bringing enthusiastic supporters, a beloved fish logo, and an ambitious mission the two organizations shared whole-heartedly. Over the last decade, the united organization has thrived and grown, with diverse expertise—in the law, engineering, policy, outreach, and more—making us more flexible and powerful than ever before. For years, we used two logos to represent the organization, but the time has come to show our unified strength with one new logo.

Over the past year, supported by design and marketing firm Adams and Knight, a committee of CFE/Save the Sound board members representing diverse interests conducted a thorough process and developed a new logo that shows our vision: clear skies, healthy landscapes, and clean water teeming with life, all intertwined. The new logo was endorsed by the full board and CFE/Save the Sound has leapt into action to implement it across the organization, formally launching it in late March, 2016.

We think this new logo reflects our unity and present momentum while staying true to our roots.

FAQ

What else is changing?

Just the visuals! The newsletter, website, letterhead, stickers, and printed and online materials are changing. We’re keeping both the Connecticut Fund for the Environment and Save the Sound names, and you may see our logo used with either name or both.

Most importantly, our mission is the same. Programmatic priorities will not change: we remain one organization fighting every day to protect and restore the land, air, and water of Connecticut and Long Island Sound.

Can I still designate my gift to the program I care most about?

Absolutely! When gifts are unrestricted, we can deploy them to the area of greatest need. But as always, you may designate your gift to the area you care most about and know that it will be used exclusively for that program—saving the Sound, stopping the pipeline on MDC lands, promoting clean solar energy, restoring fish passage on the Noroton River, protecting Plum Island, and more.

However you give, know that we are grateful for your support!

Your headquarters is moving to a new location in New Haven. What’s your new address?

As of April 1, 2016, our New Haven office will be at 900 Chapel St., Upper Mezzanine, New Haven, CT 06510.

What about the Westchester office in Mamaroneck?

Save the Sound’s Western Sound staff—Tracy, Peter, and Leanne—will continue to work from the program office at 545 Tompkins Ave, 3rd Floor, Mamaroneck, NY 10543. Look for a more robust Save the Sound presence on Long Island this summer, as well!

Isn’t a new logo expensive?

Because the switch was timed to correspond with our office move, the incremental costs of the new logo are low. Design firm Adams and Knight was both efficient with its billable hours and generously gave us a subsidized rate, and part of the work to develop the new logo was funded with a specifically-designated contribution.

How can I help introduce the new logo?

Spread the word! Share the logo on your Facebook, LinkedIn, Google +, Twitter, and Instagram feeds, and talk with your friends and family about CFE/Save the Sound.
